They did it! A big congratulations to all of our amazing walkers and cyclists who took part in this year’s Nazareth Challenge. Our walkers followed a route known as the Jesus Trail, retracing the steps of Jesus through the Holy Land. At the same time our cyclists made their way along the Jordan Valley, taking in the sights from Petra, the top of Mt Nebo and the Jordan River. On the final day both our walkers and cyclists made their way up to Nazareth to finish the event in the Nazareth Hospital EMMS. You can watch their arrival and the start of the celebration in the video below.
Between them they’ve walked over 675km and cycled over 3,700km and most importantly they’ve raised over £50,000 ($70,000). All of the funds raised go towards the Nazareth Trust’s Stoke department appeal. This year we’re raising funds to create Nazareth’s first Stroke department and deliver the life-saving care the people of Nazareth deserve. You can read more about our Stroke department appeal here. A huge thank you goes out to our amazing walkers and cyclists and their incredibly generous sponsors.
It is with sadness and thanksgiving we say goodbye to Jennifer, a long-term friend and supporter of the Nazareth Trust. We’re thankful to Jennifer for her many years of service and dedication and her part in making the Nazareth Hospital EMMS the success it is today.
She was an attractive, lively, vibrant friend & colleague to all who worked in the hospital, demonstrating the love of Jesus with all her heart as she served the local people
You can read a little more about Jennifer’s life in her obituary, written by her good friend Mary Thomas.
The Nazareth Hospital EMMS was delighted to welcome 3 new additions to its Maternity and ICU departments this month – TRIPLETS!
Due to the rarity of the case (triplets occur in only 1 in 1000 pregnancies), Mrs Zeyneb, was admitted 3 weeks before her children were born to allow staff to monitor the babies and attempt to prolong her pregnancy to 35 weeks. They almost made it…after 34 weeks and 6 days the triplets were born by caesarean section.
Mrs Zeynab shared some of her experience at the hospital with us…
It wasn’t easy, but we felt this was a blessing from God. The medical staff were really helpful in getting us through this experience in good shape and safely. The staff treated us so well. Under the supervision of the amazing Maternity and Neonatal departments we are all safe and fine.
Following 3 weeks in the Hospital’s Neonatal ward, which was recently ranked as the 2nd best in the country, the triplets were discharged in excellent health. All the staff at the Nazareth Trust offer our congratulations to the Zeynab family.
Last week, the Nazareth Hospital EMMS was delighted to welcome a group of young people from local organisation ‘Hayat’ (which means ‘life’). The organisation have recently launched their new ‘Giving Back’ project which will support local charities and groups in Nazareth.
The group were involved in a range of activities including gardening, painting and helping maintain the hospital grounds.
We are so grateful to all of our volunteers from Hayat who gave up their time to help support us. They were a huge help to our maintenance staff and did an amazing job, thank you!
