Wall of Hope: A Visible Reminder that Nazareth is Not Alone

In times of uncertainty and challenge, encouragement can be a powerful source of strength, and we wanted to acknowledge our appreciation for you, the Nazareth Trust supporter family. Following our recent invitation to supporters to express their solidarity with those serving in Nazareth, an overwhelming response was received from around the world. Messages of prayer, hope and support poured in from former staff, volunteers, clinicians, supporters and friends, creating what has become known as the “Wall of Hope.”

The collection of messages reflects a remarkable sense of global fellowship. Supporters from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, North America and beyond shared their assurance that the staff, students and communities served by Nazareth Trust are neither forgotten nor alone. Again and again, contributors spoke of standing alongside the people of Nazareth in prayer and friendship.

Rick Allen, CEO of MedSend, captured the spirit of many when he wrote, “We stand in unity with you. Our hearts grieve at the situations and circumstances you find yourselves in… we cry out to Him to bring peace to you, your loved ones, and your community.” Similarly, Mike and Maggie Frew assured staff of their “continuing prayers” and expressed their hope that they would know God’s “presence and grace now and always.”

Many messages recognised the extraordinary witness of Nazareth Trust’s ministry. Mark Pickering, CEO of the Christian Medical Fellowship, reflected on his own recent visit to Nazareth in December 2025, saying, “Simply being there as Christians, caring for patients and living out Jesus’ love in the midst of the tensions, speaks so powerfully to those around you and across the world.” Others reminded staff that their perseverance matters. Grace Johnson encouraged them not to lose heart, adding, “Your efforts aren’t making a difference. They do make a difference!” Several contributors acknowledged the emotional strain of living and working amid ongoing tensions, while offering reassurance that they continue to pray for peace, protection and strength. One supporter summed up the collective sentiment simply: “We cannot imagine what it is like, but we stand with you in prayer.”

The Wall of Hope has become much more than a collection of comments. Recently, Christine Farah from the Spiritual Care team translated the messages into Arabic and incorporated them into an activity alongside Siwar, our Occupational Therapist. The aim was to foster reflection and encouragement among ten of our psychiatric patients. Patients chose the contributions and then shared why they had selected those particular phrases and prayers. Christine notes that, “some patients added their own prayers too”. “In fact,” Siwar added, “it is so encouraging to know that people are praying for us”. As colleagues and patients alike read words of support from people across generations and continents, they were reminded that they are part of a much larger community of faith and compassion.

Today, the Wall of Hope serves as a visible reminder of the power of fellowship. It reflects a worldwide movement of people who care deeply for Nazareth Trust, who pray faithfully for its ministry, and who continue to encourage those who live, work and bear witness in Nazareth. Through every message runs a common thread: hope, faith and the assurance that Nazareth is not alone. As Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 12:26:

“If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it.”
